I know there is a $39,500 franchise fee, but are there other hidden costs?

The franchise fee covers you for access to the system, the rights to operate the system in a particular area for 10 years, and also the ability to utilize our trademarked name and logo. Royalties start at 6% of your gross sales, and decline on a sliding scale dependant upon the level of monthly sales you achieve. The royalties are paid monthly.

What other costs are involved?

Our Investment section gives you a rough overview of the major costs of starting the business and running it on an ongoing basis.

I don’t have any “metal” sales or service background.  Does this mean I can’t have a franchise?

Although “metals” as a background is helpful, it is not a necessity in undertaking a franchise. Many of our successful franchisees have not been from the “metals” business. If you have a strong sales and/or business background, and a willingness to learn, we can train you on the “metals” portion of the business.

Do I need to hire many employees?

All Metal Supermarkets^® stores start out with three Associates. They typically include you, a customer service representative and a driver/warehouse worker.

How much money can I make running a Metal Supermarkets^® store?

Unfortunately that is something that we cannot disclose at this time. However, once we have completed the agreements, we can further discuss a detailed business plan for your protected area.

Am I allowed to have more then a single store?

If we feel you are the right person for multiple locations, and have the necessary skills, goals, and financial resources we would encourage you to investigate multiple store opportunities. If you are interested in an Area Development Opportunity, we would be more then happy to discuss how you would proceed.

How long does it take to open a Metal Supermarkets^® store?

The typical timeframe for opening a store is 12 weeks from the time your site lease has been signed.

Do I have to be active in the business and run the store?

You are required to run your store or have an individual with 25% equity ownership run your store. It is our experience that most successful stores are those operated by the owner or a seasoned manager.
