Metal Supermarkets Signs Franchise Agreement to Introduce More of New York Metro to Speed, Variety & Convenience for Small-Quantity Metals

SAN JOSE – Metal Supermarkets announced today it has signed franchise and development agreements to bring five new stores to the Bay Area with an initial store in San Jose.

“Customer service is one of Metal Supermarkets many focal points, and that’s why I determined to move forward with this proven business opportunity,” said Ken Welsh, who is now on a path to open five stores in the Bay Area. “My career has taught me how critical it is to have a customer focus and to build true partnerships with those in your community. I am excited to start working with local businesses and consumers.”

The deal with Welsh comes amid a pivotal growth phase for Metal Supermarkets. With locations open across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, the company is executing a strategic expansion plan to add 50 new locations during the next four years in targeted markets, including Austin, Boston, Detroit, Milwaukee, New York, Phoenix, Sacramento and San Antonio.

“We are confident Ken has the acumen and drive to ensure Metal Supermarkets broadens its reach and becomes an integral part of the business community,” said Stephen Schober, President and CEO of Metal Supermarkets. “We’ve completed our market research and have identified a strong demand for our metal products and services. Our team is excited to support Ken as he works towards creating an exceptional experience for customers.”

Metal Supermarkets is actively awarding locations to qualified individuals like Welsh, who have strong customer service experience. The moderate investment range for a Metal Supermarkets location is between $216,500 to $403,000, and qualified owners must have a minimum of $150,000 in liquid capital to be considered. Qualified U.S. military veterans may be able to take advantage of a $5,000 reduction from the initial franchise fee.
