Ryan is a seasoned senior executive with over 15 years of experience leading teams in Canada, the US, Mexico, and Europe. His professional background includes roles of increasing scope and responsibility with several market-leading industrial companies, including Shred-it, 4Refuel, and BearCom. This was preceded by several years in management consulting with McKinsey & Company and Oliver Wyman. As President and CEO, Ryan is ultimately responsible for all aspects of Metal Supermarkets’ performance and growth. His broad functional, industrial, and geographic experience allows him to bring a unique perspective to driving performance at Metal Supermarkets. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, reading, and sports, both as a player and coach.
Andrew Arminen is a franchise operations executive with over 15 years of experience in leading both domestic and international franchise operations with a deep understanding of B2B enterprises. As Chief Operations Officer at Metal Supermarkets, Andrew plays a crucial role in the expansion and growth of the brand, focusing on the recruitment and selection of franchise candidates and guiding them through successful store start-ups. In addition to operations, Andrew oversees key support functions, including a broad range of marketing initiatives. He holds a BA from Bishop’s University and enjoys outdoor activities like camping and skiing with his wife and daughters in Toronto, Ontario.
Joseph Riner is the Director of Franchise Development at Metal Supermarkets, where he plays a key role in driving franchise growth and expansion. Since joining the company in May 2023, Joseph has focused on identifying strategic opportunities and building strong partnerships to support the network's continued success. He holds an MBA from East Tennessee State and resides in Atlanta, GA. In his spare time he enjoys traveling with his family, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, illustration, and golf.
Brendan Tiernay is the Director of Marketing and Communications at Metal Supermarkets, bringing extensive experience in both multinational and multi-unit franchise environments. With a broad skill set across digital and traditional channels, Brendan plays a key role in driving marketing initiatives that support the company’s growth and overall success. He is dedicated to understanding the unique customer base in each market, ensuring that franchisees receive tailored support to maximize their success and connect effectively with their local communities.
Adria Hartwig is the Chief Development Officer for Metal Supermarkets, where she leads franchise development, resales, and strategic growth across North America. With more than 20 years of franchise development experience, she has held leadership roles with City Wide Facility Solutions, RE/MAX, Anywhere Real Estate, and Coldwell Banker. Having helped build high-performing franchise organizations throughout her career, Adria was drawn to Metal Supermarkets because of its legacy as a responsible franchisor that has remained committed to franchisee success, sustainable profitability, and long-term partnerships. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Outside of work, Adria is a fitness enthusiast and enjoys cheering on her son as he competes in collegiate wrestling at William Woods University in Missouri.
Eric Szaja is the Vice President of Information Technology at Metal Supermarkets, where he leads technology strategy, cybersecurity, business systems, and analytics across the franchise network. He brings over two decades of IT leadership experience in multi-location, growth-stage businesses, including senior roles at Amphenol, where he led global IT across five countries, and C.A.T. North America, one of Canada's largest logistics companies, where he held IT responsibility across 11 subsidiaries. At Metal Supermarkets, Eric is focused on delivering the systems, data, and AI capabilities that make day-to-day operations easier for franchisees and help stores serve customers faster. He holds a B.A.Sc. in Computer Engineering from the University of Ottawa. Outside of work, Eric is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys listening to audiobooks on technology and business during long walks with his white Siberian husky, Cloud. He lives in Mississauga, Ontario.
John Silva is the Chief Financial Officer of Metal Supermarkets, where he leads finance and accounting across the company's North American operations along with overseeing technology and systems that support the franchise network. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) in Ontario, John has served as CFO since 2022 and previously held senior finance leadership roles with industrial and manufacturing businesses, including Ammega Canada and Green Belting Industries, where he was Director of Finance and a member of the board, and NTN Bearing Corporation of Canada, where he was Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. He is focused on disciplined financial management and strong controls, the foundation that allows a legacy brand to keep growing responsibly. Outside of work, John enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
