20-Year Army Warrant Officer Introduces Metal Supermarkets to Tulsa County

TULSA, Okla. – Infusing innovation into a legacy industry, Metal Supermarkets arrives in Tulsa as a disruptive force.

The world’s largest supplier of small-quantity metals will open its newest location in Tulsa on November 15, becoming the one-stop shop offering speed, variety and convenience for professionals and hobbyists alike. Metal Supermarkets stores specialize in providing all types and ranges of metal including steel, aluminum, stainless and other metals in bars, tubes, angles, channel, sheet and plate to meet the needs of a wide and diverse variety of customers that require these essential products.

Metal Supermarkets Tulsa offers thousands of shapes and grades of metal, cut to each customer’s exact specifications. Brandishing its world class customer service, Metal Supermarkets will be the trusted metals supplier for local manufacturers, machinists, maintenance and repair workers, tool and die shops, hospitals, hotels, universities, schools, homeowners, artists, hobbyists and more in Tulsa. The new location in Oklahoma will be owned by 20-year army warrant officer veteran Trae Caldwell.

“My experiences, both in the military and as a civilian, have prepared me well to take on ownership of Metal Supermarkets in Tulsa,” said Caldwell. “I have always enjoyed the thought of owning my own business, and this opportunity with Metal Supermarkets checked all the right boxes. The Tulsa area is growing and attracting more economic development, and my Metal Supermarkets business is the perfect fit to fill their metal needs.”

Joining the Army National Guard in 1999, Caldwell retired in 2020 as an Army Warrant Officer after 20 years of service and one tour in Iraq. In addition to his military service background, Caldwell has held several roles including business development, operations, commercial, project management and financial analysis. At the new Metal Supermarkets in Tulsa, Caldwell will lead as the day-to-day operator and manager of the business.

“Some of our best franchisees are military veterans, and Trae’s unique and wide breadth of knowledge through his military and business development background will mesh nicely in his Metal Supermarkets ownership,” said Stephen Schober, President & CEO of Metal Supermarkets. “He recognizes the brand’s commitment to customer service and the value of being an active member of his community. We have high expectations for Trae and look forward to seeing his business progress.”

With locations across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, the Tulsa opening comes amid a pivotal growth period for the international metal-supply business. Deemed an essential business, the supplier ensures each customer in Tulsa will always be able to acquire what they need.
