Common Grades
Alloy Steel Round Bar 4140 is a round shaped bar of oil-hardening, chromium-molybdenum 4140 steel. It has good strength and wear resistance, excellent toughness and ductility. 4140 Alloy steel can resist stress and creep at prolonged high temperatures (up to 1000°F).
4140 Alloy Steel is also available in leaded grades, which greatly improve machinability. However, leaded grades should not be used in applications where the temperature is elevated. This can cause lower ductility in these grades.
