North America is facing a workforce shortage and skills gap in the trades. The United States is projected to need 320,500 new welding professionals by 2029, while 5 tradespeople retire for every 2 who enter the field. Similarly, in Canada, over 256,000 skilled tradespeople are needed over the next decade to meet demand.
