Home Trade School Scholarship Metal Supermarkets Trade School Scholarship Doubled Scholarships to 8 Trade School Students This Year This year, Metal Supermarkets is expanding our support for future skilled trades professionals, awarding $20,000 in scholarships to eight recipients! North America is facing a workforce shortage and skills gap in the trades. The United States is projected to need 320,500 new welding professionals by 2029, while 5 tradespeople retire for every 2 who enter the field. Similarly, in Canada, over 256,000 skilled tradespeople are needed over the next decade to meet demand. As the demand for skilled tradespeople continues to grow across North America, this year we aim to further strengthen our commitment by assisting students pursuing careers in these fields, which are vital to a wide variety of industries and to maintaining and developing critical infrastructure. “The skilled trades don’t just hold strong in an economic downturn, but they are among the rare sectors that continue to experience significant growth in an unpredictable job market” – Jill Quinn, Executive Leader, PeopleReady Skilled Trades. Deadline to Apply: June 30th, 2026 Eligibility: Students accepted to and attending a post-secondary trade school program with a semester beginning in 2026. Open to citizens, permanent residents and resident aliens legally residing in the USA or Canada with a High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent Scholarship funds are payable to the winner’s certified trade school in the United States or Canada. The winner must enroll or already be enrolled in the upcoming semester. Employees of Metal Supermarkets Franchising Family of Companies, its franchisees, franchisee staff, or their family members may not enter.
