Common Grades
Drill Rod is a cylindrical, round bar that is formed with tight tolerances. It is most commonly made from a variety of different grades of tool steel. It is ground to a surface finish and is free from defects. The tight tolerances make it a good choice for drill bits and tools, taps, dowel pins, reamers, files, hammers, shafts and punches.
There are three main types: water hardened, oil hardened and air hardened. The three types vary in alloying content which result in varying degrees of machinability and durability. To learn more about what Drill Rod is click here.
