The guys at Metal Supermarkets in Hackensack could not have been more professional or helpful. For starters, I had a pretty weird request: I’d purchased an exercise machine (a “lat pulldown”) that required assembling, but the standing metal bar needed to support all of the weight had been cut too short at both ends. Too short in general and too short to line up with the bolt holes in the top and bottom of the bar. So, I needed two very tiny squares of steel. They had to be 1/4″ thick and 1 3/4″ square; like a chunky metal post-in note.

These guys deal in jobs way bigger than that and the first Metal Supermarket I called said, basically, that my request couldn’t be done. Then, happily for me, I called the Hackensack branch and they told me, no sweat, come on over. When I got to the Hackensack location, they figured out how best to do my tiny job (had to slice a 1/4″ thick bar that was 2″ wide down to 1 3/4″ wide, and then they cut me four squares of it at 1 3/4″ square.) Five minutes later, they handed me my tiny metal squares and charged me, I think, $6. Hell! I can’t get a burger and a coke for $6! These guys saved my day and proved that customer service is still king is some companies (or branches anyway.) I’d recommend Metal Supermarkets of Hackensack to anyone, anywhere. Great guys doing great work.
