Cutting Speed

Cutting speed is the linear or peripheral speed of relative motion between the tool and workpiece in the principal direction of cutting. It measures how far the cutting spindle travels across the metal part during one full rotation of the tool. As the cutting tool moves into the metal part, the linear distance that it moves is the depth of the cut. It is one of the most important factors that determines the efficiency and quality of the machining process.

In general, the optimal cutting speed can vary depending on the workpiece hardness and the strength of your cutting tool. It is advisable to use a slower cutting speed when working with harder workpiece materials and vice versa.
